From Crisis to Stability: Chris’s Story of Recovery and Hope

Two weeks ago, Chris’ life changed in an instant after he was hit and run over by a car. In the days that followed, he faced urgent challenges including housing instability, transportation needs, and access to basic resources.

Chris was connected to Casa de Crisis, a nonprofit organization serving East County San Diego that provides case-by-case homeless services, housing navigation, and community-based support for individuals and families in crisis.

Coordinated Support Through Case Management

Through Crisis House’s Homeless Services Program Manager, Michelle, and Outreach Coordinators, Alek and Cruz, Chris was connected to ongoing case-managed support based on his needs.

As part of this coordinated care approach, Chris received assistance including:

  • Clothing and basic essential items
  • Groceries to support food stability
  • A bus pass to improve transportation access
  • A phone to maintain communication with providers and support systems
  • Temporary motel placement coordinated through case management

These supports reflect Crisis House’s approach to individualized, case-by-case assistance, ensuring services are tailored to each person’s unique situation and eligibility.

Housing Navigation Toward Stability

Following initial stabilization, Housing Navigator, Andrea, worked closely with Chris to support his next steps toward long-term housing. Through this ongoing case management process, Chris was able to move closer to securing a stable place to live.

This work reflects Crisis House’s focus on housing navigation services and long-term stability planning, helping individuals transition out of crisis through structured, personalized support.

Client Testimonial

In Chris’s words:

“Crisis House is awesome. Not many people know about it. It’s such a relief to get help like that.”
