But for thousands of children and teens facing <a href=\"https:\/\/crisishouse.org\/es\/our-programs\/homeless-services\/\">personas sin hogar<\/a>, the start of the school year can feel overwhelming rather than exciting. All students deserve a strong start to the school year. Yet homeless and housing-insecure youth often start the school year carrying burdens far beyond school supplies.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Hidden Challenges\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A student experiencing homelessness may be living in a car, a motel, or currently looking for secure housing. This can also be true for youth who come from unstable homes and are often moving around. Unstable and unavailable housing creates a harsh and unhealthy environment for students to succeed.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Imagine trying to do projects, study without distractions, and complete your homework without having access to a room or flexibility, as well as a proper Wi-Fi connection, which is necessary across local school districts when completing assignments after school. Small acts of support can make a meaningful difference. Consider donating new backpacks, school supplies, and hygiene items such as deodorant and toothpaste.
